Find Out How To Back-up Your WordPress Blog site So That You Don't Lose Your Work

We don’t want to be shafted, correct?

Creating a backup for your own WordPress Website is truly one of these jobs that quite a few individuals remarkably disregard and just plain ignore.

Honestly, I don’t understand it.

Probably it’s because they feel nothing bad will occur to all their work they’ve worked so hard to publish and put up on their blog. With modern technology today I believe folks have the mindset that online hosting providers are so cutting-edge with redundancy and data backup that their hosting company will probably take proper care of their website.

Don't bet on it.

You've without a doubt worked out the question 'why do a blog', so do not lose all the hard work that you have put in to it!

You've already worked out the question why, so do not lose all the hard work that you have put in to it!

I’m not saying that there aren’t reliable webhosts out there that will run site back-ups to suit your needs because there are. However, let's say anything occurred with their back-ups? You’re doomed, pure and simple. And once your blog data is gone…

It is not hard to backup your WordPress blog. And this won’t set you back any money! Read on…

Rather than provide a article on WordPress plug-ins you would be able to look over to back-up your site I’m going to endorse the plug-in that I personally use with my WordPress websites.

Of course, you are free to check out WordPress.org and check out various back-up plugins. I simply wanted to share with you what I use because I like it the best. It's of course, your decision.

WordPress Database Backup

WordPress Database Backup is a fantastic plugin created by Austin Matzko. WordPress Database Backup produces a backup of your WordPress tables (tables are your data…posts, etc…) and other data that you can choose within the same database.

The plugin is simple to use. You may down load it right here at this link: http://austinmatzko.com/wordpress-plugins/wp-db-backup/ and use your FTP software program to upload it on your WordPress Plugin folder.

Although as you most likely know these days, you can actually download and install plugins from your WordPress admin page.

Just sign on to your WordPress blog, and then click the ‘Plugins’ link on the left sidebar and next click the ‘add new’ button near the top of the page. Next type in ‘WordPress Database Backup’ and it should be the first result. If not, it’ll be near the top. Then just click install, and proceed to configure the plugin.

Here’s a vital step that must not be forgotten. You actually must make a backup of your website! Trust me, people forget to do this step! Hey, it is as vital as setting up a blog...so do not forget this.

Now, you can go in to your configuration settings and schedule automated backups. But, I prefer to run a data backup manually and after that save my backup as a file. Maybe I’m just paranoid.

You’ll see towards the top where you can run a backup. The plugin will then inform you as soon as it’s finished.

What I suggest you do next is save the back-up file to a remote area like a CD-ROM, external hard disk drive for those who have one or maybe a provider like Dropbox. I personally use Dropbox and simply put, Dropbox is the best!

My suggestion is always to maintain a few backups of your website. Basically, keep the previous five back-ups you performed in order to be safe. Much better safe than sorry…right?

That’s it. You will now relax knowing that your blog’s data is secure in case there is a disaster and your webhost comes crashing down. Then you can say, “Heh!! I’m backed up man!”
