Back in the day, it took me quite some time to be able to install WordPress. This used to be time spent in the most efficient manner possible, however, it took up quite some time due to the amount of time that I would spend finding the right addons and plugins. The big problem here was my time value, and the amount of time that I was spending installing wordpress. it was no longer viable for me to spend up to two hours at a time installing WordPress when I could simply clone wordpress installations and boost my time efficiency.
The only problem here is that in order to get a job done right, you need to do it right. This means, no cutting corners that may get the job done to a lesser standard. For so long, I have had a perfect clone of WordPress saved locally on my computer which I have been able to deploy on new domains, however, the process of manually doing this is tiring, time consuming, and not even half as reliable as building from scratch. I needed to find an option.
The problem is that there is a multitude of these so called WordPress Cloners available online, and not even 80% of them work as stated. Some clone only based on some hosting configurations, some don't transfer over settings, and others just don't work at all.
You would not believe some of the errors that I have seen. If there is a known error with SQL databases, I have seen it. WPconfig errors, permissions, anything… I have seen it through this testing.
Now, I have gone on long enough about this already, but the real question here is why I do this in the first place? The idea is simple time management. If I can reduce time spent on these kinds of tasks, then this means that I am better using my time value. Installing blogs is not exactly a money oriented task, the real income is derived from when the sales copy goes on that blog, or when content is written, as such, this is the kind of task that can warrant valued time to be spent on it.
Our time is so valuable, and it should be treated as such. This is much the same reason as why some of us outsource specific work to be done. If you can get a job done in quicker time, then it is going to be better time value spent. If you have a time value of 20$ per hour, then why not outsource it at 5$ an hour. The same applies with the idea of deploying clone wordpress installations. If you can find a quicker way to deploy your perfect installation, then you are going to be not only saving your own time, but your time value. The key is in finding an application that does the work for you, does the work correctly, and does it well.
